Hans KAHLE: German. An officer in the German army in the First World War, KAHLE went to Moscow in 1935 and in 1936 to Spain as commander of the German contingent in the International Brigade. He was also said to be the senior representative there of the OGPU. He came to the UK in 1939 and, after a period of internment, settled here. He was active in the German Communist Party and the Free Germany Movement. After the war, he went to East Germany, where he died in 1949
