Reginald Thomas BISHOP, aliases Jack BROWN; 'Peter': British. BISHOP, a journalist, was a founder member of the Communist Party of Great Britain (CPGB) and prominent in the British Soviet Society. In 1935 he was alleged to have taken over responsibility for the underground work of the Comintern. In 1933 he was in contact with the Russian spy SPRINGHALL, but investigations in 1946-47 did not produce evidence of spying though he was in touch with many CPGB members suspected of providing information to the Russians
