Gertrude HISCOX/Norah BRISCOE: British. HISCOX was a member of the British Union of Fascists, beginning in 1934, a foundation member of The LINK in 1937 and a member of The Right Club. BRISCOE, a longstanding friend of HISCOX, was employed in 1941 in the Ministry of Supply. In March 1941 both were arrested when passing confidential documents obtained by BRISCOE from her work to a person who they supposed would pass them to the German Government. In March 1941 both pleaded guilty to offences of attempting to assist the enemy and each was sentenced to five years' imprisonment |
