Henri Alfred Eugene DERICOURT, alias GILBERT: French. DERICOURT was a trained pilot who came to the UK via the Middle East in 1942, having received an indication that he would be taken on by British Overseas Airways. In spite of some uncertainty about his reliability, he was taken on by SOE. In Maurice Buckmaster's French section, he was responsible for the movement into and out of France of SOE personnel and others. In late 1943 DERICOURT was denounced as a double agent and the file is mainly concerned with the investigation, ultimately inconclusive, of this accusation. DERICOURT was later tried in the French courts on the basis of evidence found in German documents left behind in Paris, but he was acquitted |
