PRETZEL, a German-born writer, came to Britain in 1938 to write articles for a Berlin publishing house and did not return to Germany until after the war. He was interned briefly in the early 1940's and thereafter concerned himself with the war effort against Nazism through editorship of a German refugee newspaper in London,"Die Zeitung", and work for the Ministry of Information
