Irma Sophie Gertrude STAPLETON: British. A German born employee of the German Embassy in London in the late 1930's, this woman volunteered her willingness to work for the Nazi cause in 1941 while working at a munitions factory. An MI5 officer, posing as a German Intelligence officer, made contact with her. She was prosecuted the following year under Defence Regulations and sentenced to a term of imprisonment from which she was released in 1948
