Jean Edouard Leopold VAN DE CASTEELE, alias Van ERK, CANTEL, LEOPOLD, Raoul, HOLDERING: Belgian. An agent of the Abwehr in France, Belgium and Holland throughout the Second World War, he ran a group called the Equipe Leopold, tasked with the penetration of Allied and other groups. He was believed to have escaped to Switzerland in April, 1945 in advance of the Allied invasion. This file contains detailed accounts of the work of the Equipe Leopold, e.g. in assisting in the arrest of French, Dutch and Allied agents
