Friedrich Wilhelm MEYER: British. Born of German parents, MEYER unsuccessfully volunteered his services to MI5 in 1938/39 as an agent against Germany. Although not conclusive, captured German documents after the war strongly suggested that his bid for recruitment by MI5 was at the instigation of German Intelligence, with whom he had admitted contact, in an effort to establish him as a double agent
