Wilhelm HOETTL, alias HUTTL, MEYER: Austrian. After a period doing research at the University of Vienna, he joined the SD in 1938, specialising first in church relations and later in intelligence on South East Europe and the Soviet Union. He was disciplined for political unreliability in 1941 and, in 1942, sent as a private to the Eastern front. Reinstated in 1943, he specialised again in South East Europe. He had professional contacts with senior members of the Nazi administration
