This series comprises registers of murders and deaths by violence in the Metropolitan Police area.

The registers provide, in chronological order, brief particulars of cases of murder, manslaughter, infanticide and, in the later volumes, deaths of women in abortion. The information given includes the date and place of death; the name, address and occupation of the victim; details of any persons charged, and the result of subsequent court proceedings.

No record survives for the years 1910, 1911, and 1918.
