General correspondence and papers of the Metropolitan Police's Office of the Receiver relating to financial matters, buildings, police and juvenile courts, extension of the Metropolitan Police District, the Metropolitan Police College, 1930 to 1937, complaints against the police, the Metropolitan Police Canteen Board, and war measures, 1938 to 1946. It includes the special collection of unregistered papers held in the Receiver's private office.

The papers reflect the scope of the Receiver's responsibilities. They cover a multiplicity of subjects of a domestic nature such as accommodation, acts and bills, allowances, boats, clothing, contracts, fines, hackney carriage standings, medical matters, pensions, police courts, police stations, special services and transport, etc.
