Description:

John Thomas, Naval Officer, Leith, to the Board. Part of the Naval yard has been advertised for sale and because of its favourable situation it may be speedily purchased. The lease of this part of the yard is only during the War and if we are dispossessed, it will be a great detriment to HM's service. If we are allowed to retain it, the rent will be much greater and may be raised to £200 per annum from the present £75. Mr. Forrester is demanding £2,000 for the property and Mr. McLean, the proprietor of the remaining part, wishes to dispose of it, which is held under a lease expiring in May 1800. The annexed schedule shows the rents paid for the various portions of the yard (not now attached).

Enclosure.
