Description: |
John Westwood to Mr. Mitchell, Navy Board. Have been at Greenfield Copper Mills this week and have received information concerning tools which have been made by Mr. Wilkinson of the Bersham foundry and are on board a ship at Canary Quay in the Chester River. Will proceed from there to Dowpool in about 8 days. As there is no positive proof of their being on board, I cannot procure any Officer to search her, if you think this will be worth the attention of the Board. Hope you will take such measures that the vessel will be properly searched before she proceeds to France. I hope this information may not become public and that you will consult Mr. Dawes or Mr. Collins, if he has not left London.. Enclosure. |
