Content: Folios 13-14. Workhouse Inspection Report Form from W H T Hawley, Assistant Commissioner to the Poor Law Board, reporting his inspection of the Tynemouth Poor Law Union Workhouse on 13 February 1847; includes details of medical provision, management of the school, the vagrant wards, numbers of inmates. Children attend a parochial school but were absent on the date of visit. Some record keeping in books was not satisfactory. The guardians had directed that rice and barley be substituted one day a week for potatoes, but this alteration does not appear to have been reported to the Commission.
