Letter from Charles Bond, Clerk to the Guardians of the Axminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, enclosing the following forms: Emigration form A relating to a 'Notice of meeting to consent to raising or borrowing money for emigration purposes', for the parish of Chardstock in the Axminster Union, signed by Charles Woodcock, Minister; John Deane, Churchwarden and Nicholas Coles and Robert Bonfield, Overseers. 3 February 1848. Emigration form B relating respectively to a 'Resolution entered in Vestry Book' for the parish of Chardstock in the Axminster Union, that £31 shall be raised to defray the cost of emigration. Signed by Charles Woodcock, Minister; John Deane, Churchwarden and Nicholas Coles and Robert Bonfield, Overseers. Emigration form C relating to a 'Certificate of Minister, Churchwardens and Overseers of the Forms of the Act having been complied with' for the parish of Chardstock in the Axminster Union. Signed by Charles Woodcock, Minister; John Deane, Churchwarden and Nicholas Coles and Robert Bonfield, Overseers. A list and description of those persons seeking to emigrate from Chardstock to Australia. Those listed are: Males: Henry Diment, Labourer and Blacksmith; Thomas Diment, Richard Diment, William Morly, Labourer; John Morly, Walter Pearse, Carpenter; Isaac Burrige, Labourer; William Knight, Carter. Females: Alice Diment, Ellen Diment, Amelia Jane Diment, Frances Diment, Eliza Morly, Mary Ann Larcombe, Servant; Ann Hunt, Servant; Mary Sloman, Servant. There is a note that Henry Diment and his family have already been received parochial relief during the last year. Annotated: the forms are correct, issue and order.
