Description:
Content: Folios 306-307. Workhouse inspection report of Edward Hurst, Poor Law Inspector, after a visit to the workhouse on 24 February 1849; includes details of medical provision, management of the school, the vagrant wards, numbers of inmates. His report states that the workhouse is generally acceptable, but that provision for the accommodation of the sick is lacking, and that it would be better for the children to be removed to a different building. Annotated: perhaps some provision for the children could be made as part of the new schoolhouse, so the sick could be moved into the old children's quarters. Paper Number: 9103/1849. Poor Law Union Number 613. Counties: Glamorganshire and Monmouthshire.
