This series contains files dealing with all aspects of defence and emergency planning from the following registered file series: Z Files: These contain papers dealing with wartime agricultural defence planning, including minutes of meetings of heads of divisions to discuss the organisation of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, and the supply and distribution of animal feeding stuffs. Some papers date back to 1938. DEF/M Files: These record plans for the provision of safe storage space and a stockpile of food for use after a nuclear attack. DEF Files: These contain papers concerned with plans for the monitoring and distribution of food in all emergency circumstances. |
