Folios 21-22: Captain Loftus F Jones, aged 47; disease or hurt, sciatica. Put on sick list, 28 October 1880, at Flores Island. Discharged, 8 December 1880. Treated with injections of morphine and 'Pulvermacher's Galvanic Pile Belt'.

Folios 22-23: Frank Johns, aged 19, Ordinary Seaman; disease or hurt, fracture of right radius at wrist. Put on sick list, 10 November 1880, at Montevideo. Progressing favourably, 31 December 1880. His arm was caught between the cutter and the ship's side. Granted a hurt certificate.

Folios 42 to 45 describe the diseases on board the ship, with reference to individual cases.

Folios 42 to 44 discuss yellow fever, its treatment, precautions and quarantine, and diet.
