Content: Folios 693-695. Workhouse Inspection Report from W H T Hawley, Poor Law Inspector, to the Poor Law Board, reporting his inspection of Southampton Poor Law Union Workhouse on 17 November 1852; includes details of medical provision, management of the school, vagrant wards, and number of inmates. He encloses a card prepared by clerk to the guardians, [Thomas N Firmin] chiefly relating to the administration of relief in kind, but combining other useful regulations including the attendance of the medical officer, which might prove useful to other boards who have objected to the order. He suggests that if the Poor Law Board thinks it appropriate they should express their approval to the guardians of Southampton Incorporation. Card is enclosed, to be used by the paupers of Southampton receiving out-relief or medical attention. Includes details of Relieving Officer, John Coultart, 22 Chichester Terrace, Northam Road, [Southampton]and the Medical Officer, Henry Dusautoy, 14 St Mary's Buildings [Southampton].
