Workhouse Inspection Report Form from Lord Courtenay, Poor Law Inspector, to the Poor Law Board, reporting his inspection of the Southampton Incorporation Workhouse on 18 June 1849; includes details of medical provision, management of school, the vagrant wards, numbers of inmates. This is the first [full official] visit he reports the workhouse is inadequate and its internal arrangements very unsatisfactory.
