Description:
Content: Folio 390. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to J and W Rees Mogg [John Rees Mogg and William Rees Mogg], Clerks to the Guardians of the Clutton Poor Law Union concerning the sick dietary for Clutton workhouse. The Commissioners point out to the guardians that the purpose of a sick dietary is to enable the medical officer to give such directions upon his medical book as definitely to guide the master of the workhouse and to check the consumption of food in the house, and for that purpose a full dietary, half dietary and low dietary should be available. Since the dietary furnished is a very full one it cannot meet the needs of all the sick. It recommends the adoption of a full, half and low dietary to enable the consumption of food to be checked and the master to properly complete his books. Paper Number: 3239/B/1847. Poor Law Union Number 374. Counties: Somerset.
