Content: Folio 347. Draft letter from the Poor Law Commission to Harry White, Clerk to the Guardians of the Blything Poor Law Union, acknowledging receipt of a letter dated 27 October 1835, concerning the four families [W Smith, Susan Maggs, Philip Chasson, George Button] who had refused to migrate to other districts where employment was offered. The board recommends that the families who have refused the offer of employment, and any similar cases that may occur, should only receive relief within the workhouse. Annotated: answer accordingly, signed T F L [Thomas Frankland Lewis, Poor Law Commissioner]. Poor Law Union Number 432. Counties: Suffolk.
