Content: Folio 273. Letter from William Ashton, [Clerk to the Guardians of the Basford Poor Law Union], to E Chadwick [Edwin Chadwick, Secretary to the Poor Law Commission]. He acknowledges receipt of their letter of 19 May 1837 asking for information about the salaries of medical officers, according to a form said to have been sent on 29 March 1837. Ashton has not received the form, and requests one to be sent. He says Mr Gulson [Edward Gulson, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner] is in attendance, and says he has been asked to apply for a bond, 'for the due performance of the duties of Joseph Sanders', who has been appointed as Collector and Assistant Overseer for the parish of Basford. Ashton has received their letter of 22 May 1837, which will be presented to the guardians at the next meeting. Paper Number: 4324/C/1837. See also Paper Number: 4264/C/1837.
