Content: Folios 83-85. Letter from Edward Gulson, [Assistant Poor Law Commissioner], Bingham, to the Poor Law Commission making the following points: Agrees that legislative enactment is needed to dissolve the Gilbert's Unions; registration; relieving officers not to have two masters; following the dissolution of Thurgaton and Basford Poor Law Unions, outgoing parishes need to be reimbursed for monies contributed to the building of the incorporated workhouse with or without a valuation of the building; selling or renting some land at Thurgaton; master and mistress of Southwell Poor Law Union; meeting with Mr Hall and Mr Neane at Belvoir Castle [Leicestershire] to discuss with Hall the Derbyshire parishes and the local Act for Shardlow [Derbyshire] Incorporation as it includes some Nottinghamshire parishes; Mr Bechers and the gentry including Admiral Southern and Sir H Taylor. Annotated in margin: A new valuation is to be made - [immediately] the payment of the [new], and allowance and the old united parishes [await being dissolved]. Folio 83 says 3 Guards.
