Content: Folio 274. Letter from J and W Rees Mogg [John Rees Mogg and William Rees Mogg], Clerks to the Guardians of the Clutton Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, to the Poor Law Commissioners asking advice. George Hart aged 14, is the son of a carpenter with six children. The father is able bodied and earning a little above average labourers wages. George is crippled in one thigh and leg so that the only occupation he could follow is that of a tailor. The father not being able to apprentice him, the board request to know whether they can sanction apprenticing him to a tailor with payment of a moderate premium. Paper Number: 8740/B/1839.
