Content: Folios 35-36. Workhouse Inspection Report Form from W H Toovey Hawley, Assistant the Poor Law Commissioner, to the Poor Law Commission, reporting his inspection of the Berwick-upon-Tweed Union Workhouse on 23 March 1847; includes details of medical provision, management of the school, the vagrant wards, numbers of inmates. He notes that only one receiving ward is available for males, that inspections by the Guardians are not sufficiently frequent, and that extracts from the regulations are not displayed in the receiving ward or the vagrant wards.
