Content: Folio 338. Letter from Charles Bond, Clerk to the Guardians of the Axminster Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Commission, referring to a letter in regard Mr Graves report into the charge of neglect by Charles Hayman, one of the Medical Officers. In that letter the Commission stated the union had not informed it of the board's medical appointments for 1846. Bond states that the annual return of officers, including medical officers, was sent to the Commission office on June 19. Annotated: examination of the list of officers sent by the Axminster Poor Law Union shows several medical appointments in March 1846 and the Commission ought to have received notification of those appointments at that time. The note requests that the Axminster Poor Law Union are sent enquiry forms with a request that details of the appointment of medical officers be entered and the forms returned as quickly as possible.
