Description:
Content: Folios 577-578. Letter from H B Farnall [Poor Law Inspector,] to the Poor Law Board, informing them that he had held an enquiry at the Keighley Poor Law Union. The advice he had given, which the guardians had adopted, was that all able-bodied male paupers would be required to work in accordance with the Board's order. For this purpose it was proposed to tender for the contract to break up an area of 32 acres of moorland, which was due to be let on 16 February, and employ the paupers to carry out the work. He advises that the guardians have sent a letter asking for the Board's approval of this proposal and he asks that a reply should be sent as soon as possible as the contract must be in place by 16 February. He advises that the Board should sanction this course of action. Annotated: 15 February 1855 see minute on 5393/1855. Paper Number: 5380/1855. Poor Law Union Number 571.
