Content: Folios 31-33. Letter from George Spencer, Clerk to the Guardians of the Keighley Poor Law Union, to the Poor Law Board, stating that he is forwarding the particulars of the appointment of Mr and Mrs Sagar, the new master and matron of the Keighley Union workhouse. Annotation: from H B Fanall [Poor Law Inspector], to say that he has no objection to the appointment, 18 April. Annotation: former salaries are - for the matron £21 2s and the master £10. Sanctioned 24 April. Appointment of Master and Matron form for John and Barbary Sagar age 39 and 33 from Cullingworth near Keighley. The form shows John Sagar and Barbury Sagar, living at Cullingworth near Keighley. He was a painter and glazier. The salary to be £20 and £11 4s per annum with rations for the master and matron respectively. Sureties are Jonathan Anderton and William Tuner, Chapel Keeper, both of Keighley. The post became vacant after the resignation of Elizabeth Waterhouse, Matron. Paper Number: 16843/1851. Poor Law Union Number 571. Counties: Yorkshire West Riding.
