Content: Folios 159-162. Workhouse Inspection Report Forms from Alfred Austin, Assistant Poor Law Commissioner, to the Poor Law Commission, reporting his inspections of the Keighley and Bingley Poor Workhouses in the Keighley Poor Law Union on 11 September 1847; includes details of medical provision, management of the school, the vagrant wards, numbers of inmates. The schoolmaster of the Keighley Workhouse is said to be 76 years old, 'very deaf - he cannot write'. The old men and women's sleeping rooms communicate with each other with only a latch on the door. In the Bingley Workhouse the laundry and bedroom adjoining are over some privies which create an offensive smell, and too many people sleep in the bedroom. Paper Number: 18412/B/1847.
