Content: Folio 382. Workhouse Inspection Report Form from J D Cleaton [John Cleaton], Visiting Commissioner in Lunacy, to the Poor Law Board, reporting his inspection of the Reeth Poor Law Union Workhouse on 11 March 1869. The medical officer was William Smith and two inmates, Ann Bell and Elizabeth Pedley, were classed as decidedly imbecile. The former was epileptic and the latter had two illegitimate children, both classed as of unsound mind. Annotated: I have seen the clerk to the Reeth guardians [James Robinson Tomlin] and these persons will in future be classified as of unsound mind. Put by. Paper Number: 17626/1869.
