Description:
Content: Folios 804-805. Workhouse Inspection Report Form from Mr Edward Hurst, Poor Law Inspector, to the Poor Law Board, reporting his inspection of the Tynemouth Poor Law Union on 30 November 1855: it includes details of medical provision, management of the school, the vagrant wards and the number of inmates. In relation to the maximum number of inmates set by the Board, he reports that with recent additions the accommodation has increased and it is therefore necessary to reconsider the numbers. To assist the guardians in this he has left the clerk and medical officer a copy of the opinion of Dr Todd and the recent form forwarded to him by the board with reference to this matter. He reports that the schoolmaster was absent at the time of the visit because he was attending the board of guardians at the Sunderland Poor Law Union [Durham] where he was a candidate for temporary master.
