Content: Folios 248-252. Letter from Thomas Wheelhouse, Lord Street, Liverpool, Member of the Liverpool Select Vestry, to the Poor Law Commission. He informs them that at 'our meeting last Tuesday' he proposed the provision of a suitable room where inmates who are not members of the Church of England might hold their own religious services. 'This was negated by a majority of 8 - being 8 for and 8 against'. 'I herewith hand you tables innumerating the portion of Catholic inmates' showing that 100 of the 220 Catholic inmates are deprived of the comfort of their religion, and asks the Commissioners to place a 'liberal construction' on the Act, so to benefit 'our Catholic Brethren'. 'Report of the Numbers of Roman Catholic Paupers at this time inmates of the Workhouse in the Parish of Liverpool. July 2nd 1845'.
