Content: Folios 152-153. Workhouse Inspection Report Form from N Edward Hurst [Norman Edward Hurst], Poor Law Inspector, reporting on a visit to the Reeth Poor Law Union Workhouse on 13 July 1855. It includes details of medical provision, management of schooling, the vagrant wards, numbers of inmates. It notes that the progress of the school pupils is unsatisfactory. Hurst reported that the workhouse wall needed raising and inattention to this had caused irregularities. A committee had been appointed the previous day to look into the matter. The Board should enquire as to what was happening in a fortnight's time. Annotated: to Mr Hurst asking him to be good enough to answer questions 6 and 13. 13 July 1855. Hurst replied Question 13 now answered. Question 6 answered. He can only add that he is not aware of any interference of the board being necessary as to the answers to the queries in the visitor's book. Initialled EH [Norman Edward Hurst], 20 July 1855.
