Content: Folios 118-119. Workhouse Inspection Report from N Edward Hurst [Norman Edward Hurst], Poor Law Inspector, reporting on his inspection of the Reeth Union Workhouse on 30 Mar 1855. It included details of medical provision, management of the school, vagrant wards and number of inmates. He also adds that in the eighth week after the previous March quarter the board ordered 5s to be given to Ralph Grisedale, an able bodied man, for four weeks. If in the following audit these had not been disallowed, an enquiry should be made. Annotated: that the auditor should be asked as suggested by the inspector. 20 April [1855] Also: Reserve until Lady Day audit. Initialled C. [Lord Courtenay, Secretary]. Paper Number: 10420/1855.
