Folio 24: case no. 55, Cornelius Elliott, aged 38, Quarter Master; sick or hurt, morbus cordis; put on sick list 27 September 1863 at Yokohama, invalided 14 November 1863, sent 19 November 1863 on board the Centaur for England.

Folio 24: case no. 56, John Sharkey, aged 40, Leading Stoker; sick or hurt, varix, was continually on sick list since May 1862 for, pleurodynia, diarrhoea and on two occasions with bronchitis; put on sick list 13 October 1863 at Yokohama, invalided 14 November 1863.

Folio 25: case no. 57, Thomas Hunt, aged 31, Boatswain’s Mate; sick or hurt, disease of the knee joint; put on sick list 16 October 1863 at Yokohama, invalided 14 November 1863, sent 19 November 1863 on board the Centaur for England.

Folio 25: case no. 58, William Parker, aged 34, Master; sick or hurt, syphilis & gout; put on sick list 17 October 1863 at Yokohama, invalided 24 November 1863, sent 2 December 1863 on board the Pearl for England.

Folios 25-26: case no. 59, Thomas Flynn, aged 22, Gunner Royal Marine Artillery; sick or hurt, gunshot wound of left hand, while on sentry on the Forecastle the trigger of his rifle was caught in the coil of rope causing it explosion; put on sick list 17 October 1863 at Yokohama, discharged 14 December 1863 to duty, pension certificate given.

Folios 33-45: Surgeon’s general remarks. Great improvement in the sanitary conditions in Victoria. The Surgeon stated that malarious diseases were a result of an increase in the population and extension of the town. Also mentioned the death by drowning of Edward J. Richards (case no. 24), occurrence of small pox in HMS Beagle (folio 33), European settlement at Yokohama (folios 33-34); meteorological observations (folios 34-35); description of Yokohama, its inhabitants, medical science and environment (folios 35-36); passing note about a small pox outbreak in the Pearl from Nagasaki conveyed on board by a servant of Consul Wincheter (folio 36); failed negotiation by Colonel [Edward St. John] Neale the British Minister with Satzuma [Satsuma] and action on the Fort Kagoshima (folio 38); copy of complaining letter to the Admiral at Yokohama regarding the water supplied for the ship (folios 38-39); remarks on occurrence of diseases on board the Euryalus with respective cases mentioned in the journal including gunshot wounds during the action on the Fort Kagoshima (folios 39-45).
