Description:

This series consists of registers of disputes with determinations by the Central Land Board of claims to compensation for depreciation of land values under the Town and Country Planning Acts, 1947 to 1954. As well as indicating the outcome of the appeal, they contain case number, date of entry, name and address of appellant and general remarks. In addition each entry bears a cross-reference to the number of the appropriate regional register which provide more detailed information.

Administrative / biographical background:

The Central Land Board was empowered by the Town and Country Planning Act 1947 to assess and collect a Development Charge when the grant of permission to develop land and buildings resulted in an increase in value. Disputes over the determination by the Board of development values of land were referred to the Lands Tribunal under the Lands Tribunal Act 1949.
