Description:

1 collective petition (36 people from Boldre [Hampshire] including prosecutor) on behalf of Edward Purkiss, a labourer, convicted at the Hampshire Quarter sessions, Winchester on 6 January 1831 for felony upon John Apsey. Gaoler's report: orderly in prison, conduct good on board the Leviathan. Grounds for clemency: has a wife and several young children now in distress and chargeable to the parish. Initial sentence: 7 years transportation. Annotated: 'Nil.' ES 44.
