Title: | Office of Woods, Forests, Land Revenues, Works and Buildings: Duplicate General Accounts |
Description: |
These volumes contain what are thought to be final drafts of the general accounts of the land revenues of the Crown, created by the Office of Woods, Forests, Land Revenues, Works and Buildings. The series of volumes formed by the last two pieces of LRRO 2 and the present series seems to have been started just after, and possibly in response to, the Crown Lands Act 1829 (10 Geo IV, c50) which laid down sweeping changes in the methods of audit of land revenue accounts. It was continued after the amalgamation of the Office of Woods, Forests and Land Revenues and the Office of Works in 1851, but terminated at the end of the year 1847/1848, apparently as a result of further changes in auditing practice consequent upon the provisions of 7 & 8 Vict, c89. |
