Report of Sir Robert Graham on 1 collective petition (4 persons, including the prisoner) on behalf of John Brooks, convicted at the Lent Bedford Assizes of Oyer and Terminer for cutting and maiming a cow on either the 1 or 2 September 1823 belonging to John Hannah, publican. Evidences from John Read, Robert Costin, James Hewlatt and John Northwood are also included. Grounds for clemency: others were guilty of the offence, not the prisoner. Sentence: 7 years transportation. Recommendation: speaks against mercy. Folios 224-235.
