Title: | Court of King's Bench: Plea and Crown Sides: Miscellanea |
Description: |
A miscellaneous and largely internally disordered collection of records mainly of the Plea Side of the Court of King's Bench and dating from the 18th and 19th centuries, although there are also some stray indictments from files of the Crown Side. Some of the items are survivors from series the bulk of which were, for the 18th and 19th centuries, destroyed under schedule, including prisoners' papers, docket rolls, various categories of writ, including recordari facias loquelam, satisfactions and common bails. There are numerous records of proceedings in inferior courts, principally borough courts but also others, including Irish courts, which were brought into King's Bench on writs of error. Individual items of importance include a list of King's Bench clerks in 1653, and the seal of the Court of King's Bench in Ireland in the reign of Henry VIII. Further record files are in KB 145. |
