He was passionately fond of the moors and had a unique and unrivalled knowledge of Yorkshire. He was best know for his books about the Yorkshire Dales, although he also wrote semi-autobiographical novels about his war time experiences, as well as short stories and articles. He later became a hotelier in Goathland and published the story of this venture.) |
