The early history of the farm involves two properties, which were eventually merged and developed until, by 1832, the estate was known by the description which appears at the head of these entries. However, to illustrate the build-up of the farm, deeds earlier than 1700 are catalogued with individual descriptions of property.

 

Messuage, barns, buildings, yards, gardens, closes, farms and lands (124a.) called Sweet Hill in Ashurst, and comprising lands as shown on a map by Henry Partington, land surveyor; all which premises were formerly called Sweet Hill and Woolley, but are now called Sweet Hill Farm.
