Abstract of title of the personal representatives of Mrs. Albertina Carless, deceased, to freehold property in Ashwell Street, Leighton Buzzard. Includes following abstracts:

 

(I) Mortgage from FS to Elizabeth Buckmaster of Upper Houghton Regis, widow, to secure £550 with interest at the rate of £4 10s. per annum, of three plots [numbered 6, 7 and 8] of land at Leighton Buzzard comprising 1040 sq. yards with a frontage of 100 ft towards Ashwell Street and a frontage of 84 ft towards Edward Street, bounded on the N by Ashwell St., on the E by premises formerly belonging to William Hopkins and then to Joseph Hopkins, on the S by land then formerly belonging to James Parkinson, and on the W by Edward Street, with seven buildings built thereon; being land shown on plans drawn on two deeds of conveyance dated 24th June 1867 - see /1 for one of them - from Messrs Harris, Pettit and Taverner to FS; rights of way same as in /1(a); 29 Sep 1888

 

(II) Will of FS bequeathing all his household goods, furniture and effects to his wife Catherine Spahn; and the residue of his personal estate to his executor upon trust; and devising all his real estate to his wife for life (with trusteeship for sale), remainder to his daughter, Albertina Carless (wife of Benjamin Joseph Carless) in fee; and appointing his friend William Wright of Lindslade, stud groom, sole executor and trustee. Death of FS in December 1906 and probate of his will in February 1908; 18 Jul 1906

 

(III) Reconveyance from Elizabeth Baker, wife of George Williams Baker of Harpenden, gentleman, to AC of Leighton Buzzard, herbalist, of the mortgaged estate in (I); 29 Apr 1924

 

(IV) Mortgage from AC and Martha Harriett Atkinson wife of Ebenezor Atkinson of 'Llithfaen', Forfield Place, Leamington Spa (Warks.), gentleman, to secure £850 with interest at £5% p.a., of land as in (I) with seven dwellings now known as 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17 and 19 Ashwell Street and other land - see below -not the subject of this abstract; 30 Apr 1924

 

Endorsed with memoranda re *Conveyance dated 16 Jun 1930 from Frederick Spahn Carless and Benjamin Blackshaw Carless (sons and personal representatives of AC, deceased) to Ernest George Isaacs and Charlotte Elizabeth Isaacs of "Ivydale", 27 Grove Road, Leighton Buzzard being part of the land conveyed; *Conveyance dated 17 Jun 1930 from FSC and BBC to Lizzie Hampson, wife of Edgar Frederick Hampson, of "Avondale", 25 Grove Road, Leighton Buzzard.

 

(V) Will dated 5 May 1914 of AC [of 19 Ashwell St.] appointing sons FSC and BBC as executors; death of AC on 9 July 1929 and probate of her will in the Principal Probate Registry on 31 Mar 1930.

 

(VI) Statutory receipt dated 19 May 1930 endorsed on (IV), FSC described as of 82 Aldbourne Road, Coventry, motor body maker, and BB of Leighton Buzzard, gas fitter.
