Title: Deeds of 77-79 North Street, 2-3 Farm Yard and 35-36 Upper Russell Street, Brighton
Description:

In 1737 the several titles listed here were all part of the same property, then owned by Sackville, Earl of Thanet. The property then consisted of the manor farm and farm yard (AMS6153/2/63-86). The property was purchased by Thomas Kemp, who sold the bulk of it in 1797 and 1802 to Simon Wisden of Brighton, blacksmith. In his will, dated 27 January 1840, Wisden devised 1-2 Farm Yard to his son William Wisden, 81-83 North Street to his son George Wisden and 79 North Street to his granddaughter Maria Mighell, who later married Warwick Stenning of Brighton, butcher. The bulk of the site (80-83 North Street, 1-2 Farm Yard and 23-24 Upper Russell Street) was sold at auction, on behalf of the trustees of the late William Wisden, by Christoper Wren at Brighton on 23 Apr 1858 (AMS6153/2/91). The site was reassembled by Samuel Henry Soper, a draper
