The Silver Knights Scheme was first introduced in 1948, its purpose being to instill some of the ideas of road safety into younger children and also to impress the names of Raleigh Industries products. Upon receiving a new tricycle children were required to make application to the Scheme where they would be sent Christmas and Birthday cards, novelty items, certificates, road safety storybooks and leaflets. The Scheme was ended c.1956 when the costs of funding and administering it became too great a financial burden upon the company
