Physical description: 44 SUB FONDS
Immediate source of acquisition:

Deposited June, 1944, by J. F. L. Formby, Esq.

Subjects:
  • Formby, Lancashire
Administrative / biographical background:

The present Formby family acquired a quarter of the manor in the mid-16th century, but--although the descent is not clear--it is certain that they have held property in Formby since the 13th century. Properties in East Lancashire were brought in by marriage in 1784. There are many references to aggregation of scattered holdings among the deeds relating to Formby.
