This School opened as an Industrial School in 1871 at 8 Richmond Grove, Longsight, Manchester, and moved to London Road, Nantwich, at the outbreak of the Second World War. It is described in the Rules for Management, Feb.1924 see SP 1/9, as being intended for the reception of children committed by a court under Sec.58 of the Children's Act 1908. The establishment was purchased by the Social Services Department of the County Council in July 1975 from the Roman Catholic Teaching Order of De La Salle. It will be run as a Community Home from October 1975, providing residential accommodation for a maximum of 22 boys aged 13-17 |
