Description:

Catalogued July 1992

Historical Note

The earliest records of Macefields Schools date from 1875 when classes were held in a room in Garratts Lane. In 1891 new buildings on the corner of Mace St. and Trinity St. were opened. Between 191 and 1929 the schools catered for boys and girls aged 7 to 13.

In 1929 they became "Rowley Regis, Old Hill Macefields Council School for Senior Boys and Senior Girls", aged 11 to 14. In 1941 the schools amalgamated to form Macefields Senior Mixed School.

Log books of both boys' and girls' schools end at this point. Presumably a new book was begun for the new school.
