Dr Stevens was the first Honorary Curator of Reading Museum when it was founded in 1884. The Memorial Committee was established in December 1890, with D. Heelas, mayor of Reading, as chairman. At the inaugural meeting it was agreed that a bust of Dr Stevens should be placed in the museum as a memorial to his work there |
